Well, we’re officially Seattlites now: we own a boat.

We had so much fun canoeing in Lake Union two weeks ago that last weekend we decided to rent a canoe in Green Lake, since it’s just a block away from our house. We took the dog with us on that canoe trip, and he did really well in the boat.

So this weekend, we just happened to look on Craig’s List and see a used-once canoe for really REALLY cheap. We were lucky enough to be the first people to show up to take it away, so now we have our very own canoe!

We had to try it out this evening, so we went for a short sunset paddle around Green Lake. The water was calm and still (and yet somehow still had enough current to keep us from going where we wanted to go), the moon was bright, and the sky was awash in beautiful sunset colors. Needless to say, we’re going to be doing a lot of canoeing from now on!
