organ was born in Ft. Wayne, Indiana,
but when she was two, her parents threw a dart at a map and decided to
move to Kingsport, Tennessee (unlike Jonathan's parents who moved to
Independence from Brooklyn by following friends). Morgan doesn't remember
much of Kingsport, because when she was six her family moved to Knoxville,
where they lived on a big beautiful farm in the Smoky Mountains. By the
time she was twelve, her parents were so thoroughly fed up with living in
Tennessee that they decided to return home to Indianapolis.
n 2001, Morgan graduated from Oberlin
College. She really enjoyed her four years there, majoring in English,
Medieval history, and musicology. She spent the second semester of her
sophomore year abroad at the Universtiy of Aberdeen in Scotland. After
graduating from Oberlin, Morgan stuck around Oberlin for a while (mostly
because Jonathan got a job with the college) and worked at the Oberlin
Historical and Improvement Organization (O.H.I.O.), Oberlin's local
historical society.

he historical society job
was fun, but it made Morgan realize how much Medieval history is her true
passion. So, when Jonathan took a job in New York City, Morgan seized the
opportunity to attend Fordham University. In 2004, she received a
Master's Degree in Medieval Studies, and she is currently working on a
PhD in Medieval History. Her studies at Fordham have focused on
medieval manuscripts, social history, British history, and the history
and literature of Wales. She is currently working on her dissertation
about Prophecies in Welsh manuscripts. In the fall semester of 2006,
she taught a history course at Fordham: HSRU
1000: Western Civilization from the Enlightenment to the Present,
which she thoroughly enjoyed.
organ's Mom, known to most of the
world as Mumphy, is now Canon to the Ordinary of the Episcopal Diocese of
Indianapolis, and her Dad is a telecommunications auditor. And no matter
how many times you read that last sentence, chances are you will have no
idea what either of them does for a living. Morgan has an older sister,
who lives with her husband and young daughter in Portland, OR.
n addition to all that medieval stuff,
Morgan also loves the outdoors and playing with animals. She taught an
Exprimental College (ExCo) course at Oberlin about castles, and a course
about chainmail and calligraphy. She has also just started a business
selling calligraphy, chainmail, and other handmade products--you can visit
her online store at BygoneArts.com.
